Committee 2016/17

As you might have seen on our Facebook or Committee page, this year’s committee isn’t shy. On the first post of our new blog, we’re taking the opportunity to post our introductions for the world to see!

Hey, I’m Euan and I’m the President of the NRCC this year. I’m going into third year, studying Civil Engineering.
I can’t even remember how long I’ve climbed for, and I don’t intend to stop yet! This year I’m looking forward to some sick new trips with the NRCC, and making the lively club what it is today. My favourite memory of last year has to be the cold, nipple perking climb up Schiehallion Munro for it’s awesome views. NRCC cannot be compared to any other club for it’s diversity and levels of dankage.

Hey, I’m Richard, and I’m the Secretary of the NRCC this year. I study Marketing and Web Design, going into third year.
I’ve been climbing for two years, and my favourite climbing memory is the first time I crushed a 6B climb, it felt like I’d made proper progress since I started. This year I’m looking forward to trying trad climbing, a style of climbing I’ve not done much of before, and I’m also extremely excited for a very special climber joining us during the semester… The NRCC is such a fantastic group to socialise and climb with, and everyone’s completely insane!

Hi there, I’m Gavin, the Treasurer of the club. I’m going into second year of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I’ve been climbing for about a year now and love every moment, from trips to Ratho to our awesome pub climbs!!! I’m super excited about welcoming everybody to the club and raising it to new highs with some ace trips lined up. The club is a great way to meet some sick people and have loads of fun!

‘Sup Troops! I’m Cerstin and I’ll be your Social Secretary for the year. I’m going into my fourth year of Festival & Event Management which makes me the expert of all things party and tequila. I’ve been climbing for a year now, but don’t let that fool you as I still whoop ass on the wall with my lanky legs ????! I’m looking forward to planning all sorts of trips and nights out for you guys – including our legendary pub climb! We’re going to make sure this year’s the best one yet!

Hi, my name is John and I’m the Meet Secretary at the NRCC. I’m in my second year of Product Design Engineering. I only started climbing regularly last year, although I first started many years ago. As well as climbing at the indoor walls I’ve been doing a bit of trad, and I’m excited for outdoor trips and some new crags. Some of my favourite memories from the club are the winter comps and battling boulder problems at Alien Rock 2. The club is the perfect place to meet other enthusiastic climbers or start climbing for the first time.

Hi, I’m James, the Club Development Officer – although I’m not really sure what that is yet. I’m in my final year of Accounting. I’ve been climbing for about a year and a half now and love it all. The club has so many fantastic outings and pub climbs, I wouldn’t miss them for the world! I’m super excited to be welcoming everybody to the club, especially the newcomers, and I’m looking forward to what the year has in store for us all.

Heya! My name is Maria and I’m the Media Secretary. I’m going into my second year of Journalism, and started climbing only just last year. I’m the committee’s only foreigner, but luckily not also the club’s!
I love the NRCC for all the people in it who made me feel welcome since day one at the taster session. Everyone’s so friendly and fun to climb with. I’m very excited to get back on the wall, but also welcoming everyone new and old to the club. I’m also looking forward to trying a bit more lead climbing this year, as I’m not very confident with it but want to improve. I had such a good time last year, from Sunday hungover bouldering sessions to mini van trips to Glasgow, and I’m looking forward to doing it all again this year!
